The Page Program- My introduction

Hi! I am a Student from High School of American Studies at Lehman College. I live in the 17th district of New York under the representation of the Honorable Congressman Eliot Engel.

Now let me tell you about how I became a Page with the US government. I have a great int interest in politics. This led me to attend National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) --Political Nerd Camp-- when I reached the 6th Grade. It was here I first met my Good Friend Rachel.

Rachel is what some might call ambitious, she knows what she wants and knows how to get it. When she has something, she is reluctant to share. But that is a different story! SO at a dinner Rachel was introduced to The Honorable Speaker of The House (Nancy Pelosi for those who don't know) and ultimately lead her to a position as a summer page. She was asked back for the fall semester.

So it came to pass that out of a single conversation we determined that i would have to visit her. And because I am just that crazy I went from the Bronx to DC --YES BY MY SELF (because I am just that independent)-- and visited my friend. She showed me what it was like to be a page. So I ultimately decided this was a job I could see getting used to! I got myself together and called up my congressman office to see if he had any appointments for the summer, since he did not I asked them about the school year and sure enough next semester my congressman had an appointment I told the office to " please send out the forms". A day later I received them with only three days until I could get them back. SO I went on a frenzy of filling out papers and signing my name.

About a month later I received word that I had gotten approval and that I could accept the position as a Page. About a second later I realized I would be Taking the Position and YES I WOULD BE MOVING TO DC!!! And so the adventure I could collect and experiences I would Have would ultimately lead me to . . .
